Hi Christine, Mark, Belen, John and the rest of the G4 crew. Sitting here in front of my computer trying to focus on my work – well almost impossible!And it’s all G4’s fault – I think my partner is going to fire me!!!I still feel a bit jetlagged and overwhelmed – hopefully I will snap back into reality pretty quickly! I have done many events (big events such as Epic, Transalps, Ironman) but nothing can compare or compete with the G4.The precision with which it was run, the camaraderie, the toughness, the challenge – what an honor to have been part of it! As you might know I entered G4 because it was the dream of someone I loved very deeply and because he cannot do this now I am doing it for the both of us to the very best of my ability.I think he was very envious of all the fun we had but very proud of the way we all conducted ourselves and I think he is proud of me .For me that is the greatest of rewards.Thank you for allowing me to live his dream……. Christine and your Magnetic South crew,

Wow! This was an exceptional event and certainly the most efficient and well organised one that I have attended locally and internationally. And with so many different elements this really is credit to the professionalism and experience of each crew member and the team as a whole.

My thanks to you too for including me in this event; it was really a honour to be involved. I also was treated like royalty and spoilt rotten! Not once did I (or any other media) want for anything and it was really special to be able to participate in so many of the activities.

It is also wonderful to have the chance to reunite with old friends; the years do pass too quickly.
Again, well done on a really incredible event. I am really honoured to have been part of it.

Hey Mark, Belen, Christine and John I hope you are happy to be home and seeing the kids.:-) I just wanted to say once again a HUGE thank you to you and your team!What an unbelievable time and experience we all had in Lesotho. You guys really outdid yourselves! You put on a world class event and should be incredibly proud….and exhausted. J I also just wanted to tell Mark that everyone knew how hard it was going to be, to select the 4 going over but we always knew that the team chosen was going to be the right one, and they are. I am sure there are many disappointed people, including myself but everyone is thrilled with the selected team despite their own disappointments. It is strange that as the week went on, it became more obvious who would be going through and when you realize this and you can’t seem to pull it out the bag, you have to begin to accept that you aren’t the right person with the right skill. That is probably the hardest thing about this whole event, but we all walked away with an experience of a life time and for that are extremely grateful.I suppose what I am trying to say Mark is that you shouldn’t have to feel bad. You were only ever able to choose 4 people and you chose the best 4.Well done on making that decision. J Guys – THANK YOU! Good morning,
think you must be feeling the same being home after this adventure. It does feel odd. I suppose going to work is something that distracts us from feeling down and out!

A massive thank you for your passion and vision. Your efforts and energy makes a huge difference from my side. It is definitely one of the most enjoyable and exciting events I have ever attended. Thank you. The personalities and group of people you chose as your crew and participants made the event even more special. Well done.

My highlights, if it’s possible to choose some, are the events that I would never normally do on my own. The rope work and the driving were great fun and seeing a part of the country that I have never been to before was a fantastic opportunity.

I’m meant to be moving to Canada in January after Dusi. That means no more specific paddling races for me. If I’m around I’ll do some, but Dusi is pretty much my last one. It’s a very scary thought to uproot everything and have to start everything again – friends, work and new sports….but I’ll be back for the next G4 challenge. Hopefully a better mountain biker (and won’t be able to count on my hands how many times I’ve cycled in the year so far) and fitter on my feet because I won’t have only concentrated on paddling.
If there are any South African events I’d come back for, yours would be the first and Dusi the next. Everything other type of race can be adventured in other countries.

Thank you and to your team for everything. If I drive via Knysna to Natal in November for Dusi season, I’ll pop in for sure.

Hi Mark, Thanks for putting on one of the most amazing events ever. Knowing how technically and logistically challenging it must have been, it ran extremely smoothly. Having been to International selections, this far exceeded any of my expectations in terms of quality, diversity and pure adventure. I feel really privileged to have been part of it. The whole teams approach, effort and attitude was simply amazing. Please extend my many thanks to the entire Magnetic South team, they really are a special group. I will definitely be stepping my training up to make South Africa proud over at the International selections. The four of us are definitely at an advantage in terms of the lessons we’ve learnt and the amazing experience we’ve had. Thank-you’s can never be enough. Firstly ”I’D LIKE TO SAY THANKYOU FOR AN AWESOME EVENT CONDUCTED BY YOU AND YOU ENTIRE TEAM AT MAGNETIC SOUTH”

It was truly inspiring to watch each member of your team operate with the highest level of professionalism at all times as they went about the tasks with a passion like no other.

I have certainly learnt that all things are possible with God as we put our minds to the task at hand and just give it our all.

As I type this email, my heart is filled with mixed emotions, as the very core of our team went their separate ways as we left the airport, so did the realization that people come into your life for a reason, sometimes for a moment and sometimes for a season, for how long only time will tell.

As for me I will hold on to the memory, I was part of the greatest adventure event on earth.

When I see the faces of each competitor in my mind, I know for one thing” we did it all for the glory of adventure ”

Now We Deal With Emotions, Like Victorious War Heroes.

Dear Amanda

Like Martin “D” warned in the Bar in Matjies Fontein, you come plummeting down to earth and crash into the ground like a ton of bricks, taking on your 1st day back with a numbed sense of dreamy reality as you reminisce about an indescribable experience that almost doesn’t exist, because the people you shared it with are no longer around, and as you desperately share your experiences with friends you get a look back from them that lacks the recognition and depth of a 3 day event that seemed to contain weeks worth of relationship and life. It just seems like I’ve been drinking water today, when yesterday I drank life.

So to All you Guys…..the Team of Magnetic South and Land Rover and G4 and sponsors and others I thank you, for the Above Experience and all the hard work that we don’t get to see but we all know happens!!

Friday night I couldn’t sleep because of anticipation. Saturday night because of adrenalin and Sunday night I couldn’t sleep because I was trying to sum up the experience. And eventually I did sum it – in one word. APPRECIATIVE It might sound strange, but only if you haven’t been there. Everybody was appreciative – and I do mean everybody: all the staff; all the organisers; all the participants. It was the strangest thing: the organisers and staff were appreciative that the participants were there – as if we were doing them a favour by showing up and enjoying the event. It’s the kind of thing that can only happen when you are truly passionate about the things you are doing and the cause you are serving. You have planned and executed a magnificent event way above any and all expectations that I had. Should we have done the Video Interviews Sunday afternoon, my answer to the highlight of the event would have been totally different – I would have said that, without a doubt, the highlight of the three days was standing in that half circle in front of the LR3’s after prize giving, and the organisers and staff coming past and shaking our hands, congratulating us and thanking us for taking part in their event. It was a special moment. I would like to thank you for inviting me and affording me the opportunity to be part of this truly unique experience. I do not have contact details for other staff members or that of Roland Reid from Land Rover. Please convey my thanks to everybody in your team, to Roland and to all of the other sponsors.
